I am a very good athlete, and recently took the Presidential Challenge. I passed Presidential (better than 85%) with ease on every single test and finally took the flexibility test. I didn't even get the National level (better than 50%) on that. I'm clearly pretty angry because now I can't get any kind of award. My question is, why is flexibility important? What does it have to do with my overall physical fitness, because I play sports year round and it never seems to interfere. Also, how can I become more flexible? I'm only a few centimeters off.Why is flexibility important to physical fitness?Flexibility is extremely beneficial to your health.
The most important attribute to flexibility is that you are less prone to injury. It will also help you in all aspects of fitness as well, and not just being able to touch your toes. Why is flexibility important to physical fitness? It seems unfair because some people are naturally flexible, my son can bend his finger backward to his wrist and can barely do 90 deg. his fingers look broken when he very easily does this.
But as for why it matters, in the challenge I don't know but it is very good for your muscles and gets your blood pumped into deep recesses of your muscles, in other words it is very good for circulation.
Solution: stretching practice and slowly gently and carefully extending and stretching is the only way and if you are not naturally flexible you WILL need to keep practice up, when you stop you will likely quickly revert back to your old limits. Why is flexibility important to physical fitness?Being flexible is very important part of overall fitness. Not only will you be less prone to injury, you will be better able to perform the sports that you play. You will have a greater range of motion - you can reach further, bend and pick up the ball easier, kick higher and a whole range of other things.
