How many days each week do i need to run to maintain my level of fitness?

Currenlty I'm running 5 days each week, but my schedule is about to get mad busy and I don't think I'll be able to keep it up. But at the same time I don't want to lose the progress that i've made (10 min/mile to 7:30 min/mile in the 3 mile run). What is the minimum number of running days I should shoot for each week in order to maintain this level of fitness?How many days each week do i need to run to maintain my level of fitness?3 days a week, 30 minutes (to maintain, not improve).

If you stop running for a week this won't cause a decline in your fitness, but after 10 days your fitness will start to decrease at a rate of about 2-5% per week. If you don't run for a few weeks to a few months you could be losing all of your fitness gains, however, you can regain them in a few weeks time. Running before doing your homework, or right after school before going home can help.



If that never works then you might have to run 4 days a week and run a little extra the days you can run.

At a minumum I would keep your running to at least 3 days a week %26amp; that is the bare minumum. If you can, shoot for 4 days with one day just be a shorter distance or less time out there. I think that will definately maintain your current fitness level. good luck : )
