I know they use higher-quality film and have really good lighting. But I watch the special features on movies and it's like you see something filmed that hasn't been edited and the color looks normal. Then though you see it in Theaters or on TV and the color has changed. It's like....more rich or something.
What do they do to make it look so good in post-production? Did they just add a color filter?
Thanks :) Any other filming tips that the pros use would be appreciated as well. How do hollywood films look so different from my films? They adjust the color in post-production, in a process called color timing. These days it's mostly done digitally. They make a digital copy, if it's been shot on film, edit it, and then make a film master. The director and cinematographer decide on a particular color look for the film. It might be bright and richly saturated, or nearly colorless, and there are often one or more color themes, to make scenes look golden, for example. Some of it's done with lighting and filters, and some in post.
If you have the money, and the time and aptitude to learn how to use it, you can buy Adobe After Effects (also part of the Production Premium suite) and do it yourself. How do hollywood films look so different from my films? As you know, they have really good lighting. They add special effects, shadows, light and many other effects post-production so that it can project the intended mood. Movie editing of this caliber is very difficult to accomplish without the proper software, lighting, and training. How do hollywood films look so different from my films?I think adding some kind of effect like a color filter or overlay was used.
In photoshop, if you take a normal photo, and layer it over itself, with the "overlay" effect, you get pretty much the same thing as what you're talking about. How do hollywood films look so different from my films?
they use different cameras. you probably have a digital camera, they still use cameras on tape (like this: http://www.listingsolutions.net/Portals/鈥?/a> ). and yeah the color is different, they have some programs to modify the picture.
