Before him and the interest in his personal life, I never remembered seeing much of the paparazzi literally trying to get as many photo's and footage as they could on a celebrity, besides red carpet events. Now, we have entertainment news talking about people's lives, instead of their work. Now you have, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and others.

People have been obsessed with celebrities forever - it's just more out there because of the technological advances since the earlier days of Hollywood. Television, the internet, cell phone cameras - none of them existed back then. There were stars stalked by the paparazzi before him, but I think he was involved in the start of tabloids and magazines that dug deep into celebritiy lives.

I doubt it. Plenty of people were probably stalked by the paps before MJ.
